Well written, but not for everyone.

I read this for a spanish class a while ago. Its a good play, and seems fairly well written (although I'm not at all fluent so its hard for me to say). My main issue is with the ideas presented in the story. The entire thing revolves around the "Illusion of Normality" and the idea that those who are blind (los ciegos or los invidientes) need to experience the shame and tragedy of their condition, instead of pretending that they are normal. I personally didn't agree with this idea at all, and think that it advocates depression and giving up. That's just my view on it, not necessarily that well informed.
My other issue was I didn't like any of the main characters. Ignacio is a jerk, Carlos slowly becomes Ignacio (and worse), and Juana... well, you'll see.
I can see how some people would really like this, but its definitely not for me.

A Superb Spanish Language Play for Students

En La Ardiente Oscuridad is an excellent Spanish language play for students.I read this book as a junior in high school and found it to be neither too difficult nor too easy. The plot of the play is basic but satisfactory. Highly recommended for all Spanish language students and readers.
