The Time is Now

With the unsettling stories in the Middle East continually in the forefront of the news cycle, it seems that many of the events prophesied in the Bible are in the process of being fulfilled right before our eyes. Over the years, I’ve compared the many different interpretations of these prophecies with the Biblical record and frankly I’ve not been totally satisfied with the results.

Into this mix Bill Salus offers a new book entitled The Now Prophecies. This book looks at some of the more important prophecies related to the destruction of Damascus, the final Israeli-Arab war, current events in Iran, and the decline of America. In this book Mr. Salus takes, what is to my knowledge, a unique approach to organizing these prophecies into a congruent interpretive framework. Mr. Salus’ framework is as follows:

1. The NOW Prophecies
2. The NEXT Prophecies
3. The LAST Prophecies

According to Mr. Salus the NOW prophecies “spans the period of time existing between the establishment of the Jewish state of Israel, which happened in 1948, and the fulfillment of the Ezekiel 38 and 39 prophecies…” which Mr. Salus explains are the NEXT prophecies.

I must admit to feeling a little bit lost while reading this book. The NOW Prophecies is the first book I’ve read by Mr. Salus and it became apparent to me that I missed much of the necessary background information explained in his other books, Psalm 83, The Missing Prophecy Revealed and Israelstine: The Ancient Blueprints of the Future Middle East. So if this is your first book by Mr. Salus I’d definitely recommend you first read his other books before you dig into this one.

Admittedly, I have not reached an understanding of the subject with which I am completely comfortable. This is the 2nd book I’ve read recently discussing the Gog-Magog prophecies of Ezekiel 38-39 occurring before the final tribulation (Douglas Woodward’s: The Next Great War in the Middle East being the other book) and I can’t shake the thought that many of interpretational challenges that both authors raise might better be solve by seeing the events of Gog-Magog as occurring after the millennial reign of Yeshua. To be sure this is a minority opinion but this approach would allow us to take the burying of the wooden weapons of war at face value as well as the statement of Israel living in un-walled villages. Also it might explain why Gog-Magog comes to take spoil, after all Jerusalem will be receiving tribute from all the nations of the world during the Millennium.

In any case, even though I am not totally convinced by Mr. Salus’ arguments presented in this book and I do have other disagreements I enjoyed reading it and seeing the subject through his eyes. To be fair to Mr. Salus I came into this discussion not totally understanding the complete context of his arguments for Psalm 83 and Ezekiel 38 & 39 so this deficit on my part I’ll have to remedy by reading his other books before I am willing to make a more definitive conclusion regarding his interpretations.

In closing I will say that the final two chapters of this book are critically important for every Christian to read regardless of how you believe events in the Middle East will shake out in the coming days and years. The time is NOW for Christian's to prepare to meet the coming Messiah.

I have read many books on the last of the last days and this book nails it.
We are definitley living in perilous times. Even this past week here in Michigan we had a shooter with no background of violence go on a rampage. zreminds of the twelve year old boy in one of the chapters of this book states that the reason him and his dad sits in the back row of a movie theater is so they will not be the first ones shot. I have been making many of the preparations that Brother Salus has suggested so that me and my family will be prepared fpr what is coming upon us in the days and years to follow. If we do not heed Gods Holy Word it will be our own fault. Grea Book.... Thanks Bill for the inight that God gave you and for takig the time to put it in print.

This is a very very good book. Its so currently updated and explains verses so well that all who read will hopefully pass it on. This should help many readers understand prophecy to the extent that salvation will be received quickly. Again very good book!!!

About the Author

Elizabeth V. August, MD (Hoboken, NJ) is a board certified family physician and currently serves as Chief Medical Officer of Bergen County, Riverside Medical Group. Dr. August was the former Chief Resident of Family Medicine at Hoboken University Medical Center.

Conrad Fischer, MD (New York, NY), is one of the most experienced educators in medicine today. He is Associate Professor of Medicine, Physiology and Pharmacology at Touro College of Medicine. His breadth of teaching includes medical students, USMLE prep, and Specialty Board exams. He has seven "Teacher of the Year" awards over the last ten years. In addition, Dr. Fischer was formerly the Associate Chief of Medicine for Educational and Academic Activities at SUNY Downstate School of Medicine. Dr. Fischer has been Chairman of Medicine for Kaplan Medical since 1999, and has held Residency Program Director positions at both Maimonides Medical Center and Flushing Hospital in New York City.

Not worth it.

The book is formatted in a way to pad the page count. out of the 173 pages there's less than 40 pages of actual information. Most of it is big pictures (for example a picture of a macrosomic baby that takes up 3/4 of a page, how is that high yield in any way) which means there's whole pages that are just low yield drawings or basic science diagrams and there's a lot of black pages because whenever a chapter ends in the right hand page the next page is blank and it happens often (example between page 97 and 104 there's only 3 pages of information, one page only has a picture of the McRobert's Maneuver, 3 pages are blank and the other is the header for the next section.) This could've easily been added to another CCS book. Mot worth the money at all. To make things worse some of the information is not complete. Uworld does a better job with the Ectopic pregnancy case for example.

I'm happy with this book because I was able to benefit from reading through cases and understanding the linearity in management, but I don't think it's worth the money. The book is pretty tiny, and there's not much different in it than what is in the UWorld CCS cases. The idea behind the book is that it gives you a working understanding of ob/gyn that you need for general practice, but if you've done a solid core ob/gyn rotation in medical school or in an externship, there shouldn't be anything on step 3 that you haven't seen before. It's a thorough book, but I'll probably resell it. It's certainly not a keepsake like FA Step 1 or anything.

Carl G. Herndl is Professor of English and teaches in the graduate program in Rhetoric and Composition in the English department at the University of South Florida. He is also Associate Dean of the Patel College of Global Sustainability where he teaches in the Masters program in Sustainability.

Expectations- school 5. Personal 0.

This is a book for my English college course. My teacher is all about the environment. That's all we read about. Talk about. Write about.
I'm bored out of my mind.
This book is a collection of essays about the environment and sustainability. You'll learn some interesting tidbits and few essays mildly interesting. It's a good book, very well put together. A wide variety of environmental issues. The negative effects we have caused, how we caused them, and solutions. Many views both negative and positive.
This is 5 stars for my environmentalist nut of a teacher. It's a good book with good stuff about its topic.
My personal rating is a 0
Do I read ahead? No. If I found it in a library..? Flip thru the pages and read a passage or two, but not check it out.
Would I buy this of my own free will? Never.
It's not my cup of tea. I love reading and I could read whole books nonstop for hours beyond hours but it's such a chore to read just the pages I'm assigned to. I have to force myself to do it.

Moonrise of an Upperclassman

Very pleased to see work by Lebbeus Woods being published and to hear he is being recognized by the Whitney now in its first show on architecture. I think of Leb when I see Ansel Adam's photograph, 'Moonrise Over Hernandez, New Mexico', considered by some to be the best photograph of the 20th Century. It has a moon hanging over a town set in a landscape, something of an architectural study. And it calls back a show on the Urbana Campus, years back, when Leb was an upperclassman at Illinois studying architecture. Sometimes shows of student projects are pretty standard and tentative; they're required work to get a grade. But here was Leb's uniquely impeccable and stunning drawings. Already mature work, I believe. His presentation included a casein rendering depicting a building in an early evening landscape. Above the building in the sky he had drawn a moon. Nobody should have had the courage to do that, nobody. And you won't see a drawing like that but once in a lifetime. He probably could do line drawings done with a marker and still be museum quality.

Woods is as much philosopher and urban planner as architect in the traditional sense. His buildings rip open the landscape of the ordered grid, and also open new possibilities about what it means to inhabit a space. The functions of some of his ideas for buildings are obscure even to him. He is constantly trying to deconstruct the politics of architecture and it's place in history. He actively embodies Heidegger's idea that "dwelling means to recieve the sky", except in his dwellings it also means to recieve the ground, and to actively take part in constructing your world.

4.5 must read sexy stars

I bought this book in 2014 and wasn't till the f-Ing awkward anthology that I had read a funny piece from Gavin and clementine, once I read and loved their characters I said I need to buy this book, so I go to buy it and what was I told I bought it already in 2014.. High five to me lol... Anywho I Floved this book it may be a YA but it was soooo beyond good, you have clementine aka the ice princess who was betrayed by her boyfriend in highschool, only to head off to college to realize after an incident and having a stalker she cannot trust men. She takes a romance writing class and hates romanc, while dealing with writers block she meets Gavin a strong and sexy sexy man!!! Well it all snowballs from there, can Gavin thaw the ice princess can she trust Gavin? She only trusts her besties/roommates, she has no room for a man, but can Gavin change her mind or has so much already happened to her that she fears any intimacy? This is a must read and I'm sad I didn't read it sooner... Happy reading :)

Loved. Adored. Cherished. Those are some good descriptive words right? Your shaking your head- you agree! Good! Well, those words are my feelings at this exact moment.
I more than liked this book. I heart this book.
It was endearing and perfectly lovely.

I was in a HUGE book rut. My last 10 or reads were all just ok 3 star reads, so when I say I needed this to be a rockstar, is saying it mildly. IT WAS. Oh heavens above IT WAS. It's like I'm a giddy 10 year old girl jumping up and down in my room with all my boy band poster hotties staring at me.

That feeling. That's what it was. IS.
It had depth and trust and fun and it was friendly and flirty and warming. There were times I smiled and giggled. Times I felt my heart drop to my feet. Times I was shocked and proud. Times I was overjoyed.

This probably makes zero sense and when I read this back in time I'll laugh at myself but this is my exact thoughts after finished Dearest Clementine.

OH....oh oh oh. I can't not talk about Gavin. Dear...um...oh WOW!!!!!!! Where is he because he was perfect. I mean serious SERIOUS knight in shining armor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So Good!!

Not really sure how I haven't read this yet because I happen to love this author. But damn, I am so glad that I have and now on to the next one too.

This story had me hooked on the first page and I couldn't read it fast enough to get to the end. I seriously couldn't put it down.

Clementine isn't your average college student and she's been through a lot. Sassy, witty, kind of bitchy but not in a bad way. She's a great character written with a lot of different emotions.

Gavin SWOON!!!!! Ahhh he is like the perfect book boyfriend. You are drawn to him in an instant.

A bit of a suspense thrown into a romance = everything you want in a book. These two are fun and the side characters complete it.

what would that look like? " Most surprising though

I would argue this is the most thoughtful formal treatment of this topic available. Keith Wiley makes a distillation of decades of argument, speculation, and discussion on mind-uploading yet manages to keep it organized, thoughtful, and coherent. While no one can yet answer how we would do it, this author doesn't bother with that. Instead, he concentrates on the question, "If we could, what would that look like?"

Most surprising though, even if you are not interested in the idea of mind-uploading, the book is still compelling. In the process of tackling the big questions of this unusual topic, he purposefully takes on some of the big questions of philosophy of mind and theories about consciousness. I found myself making a list of further reading my second time through this book.

It's a short book, but not necessarily an easy one. Yet I highly recommend it to anyone interested in the relationship of mind to body, consciousness, and/or identity.

An excellent discussion of uploading, a topic that is only now beginning to be discussed seriously and will be one of the major issues of the 21st century. I especially enjoyed the taxonomy on the many possible uploading scenarios. I also concur with Dr. Wiley's conclusions regarding moving beyond traditional views of identity that no longer apply given what are learning about neuroscience and what will happen with uploading and AI.

About the Author
Allyson Weseley has taught AP Psychology and runs a Behavioral Science Research Program at Roslyn High School in Roslyn Heights, NY for over 15 years. Her students have enjoyed great success on the AP exam, with a 100% passing rate and well over 80% earning 5's. She earned an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Princeton University, a master's degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and a doctorate from Columbia University's Teachers College. Dr. Weseley has served as a Reader and Table Leader for the AP Psychology exam, published a number of psychology-related activities, led several psychology teacher workshops, and served on the Board of Teachers of Psychology in the Secondary Schools.

Rob McEntarffer taught AP Psychology at Lincoln Southeast High School in Lincoln, NE for over 13 years and Introductory Psychology at Nebraska Wesleyan University for over 7 years. He earned a B.S. in teaching of psychology at the University of Nebraska, a master's degree in educational psychology, and a Ph.D. in education. He has extensive experience in scoring the Advanced Placement Psychology free-response questions, having served as a Reader, Table Leader, and, as the high school Question Leader. He is past chair of the national organization Teachers of Psychology in Secondary Schools, worked with the committee on the National Standards for the Teaching of High School Psychology, and is involved in writing assessment materials for high school and college level introductory psychology textbooks. He works as an assessment specialist for his school district.

Would buy again if I ever wanted to take another AP Psyc any year

I recommend Barrons for any social studies AP class. 5 steps to a 5 is just too much info that you don't need to know for any social studies class. These are great with summaries of all the important stuff from a chapter in very simple words where you don't need a dictionary, and there are multiple choice questions after each chapter. The questions are not easy to the point where you can do without studying, they are challenging enough to make you ready for the exam. Would recommend this over any other book any time.

Over all this was a great manga! When buying Stallion I was expecting a fairly long, old west styled manga, but I got that and more! I wouldn't say that it is super long, because Stallion itself is fairly short, but the rest of the manga makes up for it! Apart from the main story there are 2 more!

First is Eien - It's sweet, in a somewhat morbid way in my mind. It's about this vampire and a family of vampire hunters. His old lover - that he had killed after refusing him twice - had a son, and that boy was hunting the vampire. In the end, the vampire raped the boy thinking it was the closest thing to his love.

Then there is Cancellation of Darkness - It was pretty good as well. I enjoyed it, but not as much as the other two. This one teenage boy is basically cursed by this demon that he thought was his teddy bear as a child. It turns out that the monster/demon thing stalks him and harms anyone close to him. The kid meets this one guy, and - a little quick in my mind - have sex, but it isn't much of a scene. Most of that is just prepping the younger man.

I really enjoyed this and I would so recommend it with other yaoi lovers! My cousins were over here the other day, and read my collection, and they thought it was great as well!

Well, there's a lot I could say about this book. It's entertaing as all get out, very well drawn, enjoyable, etc, etc. But it really comes down to just one thing.

I really, really, really wanna shag Stallion.

Ah, I do so love the Japanese "boy" look. And, boy, does Stallion ever live up to that. Pretty, sexy, vaguely femine. Yeah. *drool*

Even if you don't have any interest in shagging said hero (and why wouldn't you?), this is still worth reading. The story is, as I said, entertaining, the dialogue is sharp, etc, etc, praise be unto Kosen, etc.

I still wanna shag Stallion. ^_^
